Dr. Dai-Yeun Jeong is presently the Director of Asia Climate Change Education Center and an emeritus prof. of environmental sociology at Jeju National University in South Korea. He received BA and MA degree in sociology from Korea University (South Korea), and PhD in environmental sociology from University of Queensland (Australia). He was a prof. of environmental sociology at Jeju National University (South Korea) from 1981 to 2012. His past major professional activities include a teaching professor at University of Sheffield in UK, the president of Asia-Pacific Sociological Association, a delegate of South Korean Government to UNFCCC and OECD environmental meeting, a member of Presidential Commission on Sustainable Development Republic of Korea, and a Research Associate at Environmental Policy Committee for Sustainable Development,The National Assembly of Republic of Korea, etc. He has published 60 environment-related research papers in domestic and international journals and 13 books including Environmental Sociology. He has conducted 100 unpublished environment-related research projects funded by domestic and international organizations.

Professor Eric Wolanski is an oceanographer and ecohydrologist at James Cook University, Australia. His research interests range from the oceanography of coral reefs, mangroves and muddy estuaries, to the interaction between physical and biological processes determining ecosystem health in tropical waters. He has 420 publications, including 12 books. His h-index is 83 and he has 23,421 citations. Eric is a fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, the Institution of Engineers Australia (ret.), and l’Académie Royale des Sciences d’Outre-Mer (Belgium). He was awarded a Doctorate Honoris Causa by the catholic University of Louvain, another Doctorate Honoris Causa by the University of Hull, a Lifetime Achievement Award by the Estuarine & Coastal Sciences Association, and a Queensland Information Technology and Telecommunications Award for Excellence. Eric is an Editor-in-Chief of Wetlands Ecology and Management, and the Elsevier book series “Ecohydrology from catchment to coast”.

Prof. Dr. Milena Horvat is the head of the Department of Environmental Sciences www.environment.si (since 1997) at the Jožef Stefan Institute and the dean of the Jožef Stefan International Postgraduate School - www.mps.si (since 2016). Her main expertise is in the field of mercury research, which is interdisciplinary and covers the fields of analytical chemistry, human health, polluted areas, the marine environment, and clean technologies and sensor development. She is the author and co-author of over 300 articles in SCI journals and 24 book chapters. She has organized several international conferences and workshops and has been the guest editor of 16 special issues of journals, including environmental health perspectives, environmental research, analytical and bioanalytical chemistry, marine chemistry ...). She received the national Ambassador for Science Award in 2002, the national Zois Award for Research Excellence on 2014, and the international Life of Achievement Award at ICMGP in 2019. She has been a supervisor of 18 Doctoral Dissertations and several master's and diploma theses.

Prof., Dr. of Sc. Kartlos Joseph Kachiashvili is Professor of Georgian Technical University, Faculty of Informatics and Control Systems. He is a Member (Academician) of Georgian National Academy of Science. He also is Senior Scientific Worker of the I. Vekua Institute of Applied Mathematics of the Tbilisi State University (Tbilisi, Georgia) and Main Scientific Worker of Muskhelishvili Institute of Computational Mathematics. He was working in many scientific research institutes and universities in Georgia, Russia and Pakistan on the positions: engineer, scientific worker, Head of Laboratory, Head of Department, Head of National Center, Professor, Rector of Institute. Fabio Casciati served as full professor of Structural Mechanics at the University of Pavia, in Italy, from 1980 to 2019. He is presently aggregate professor at Zhejiang University, Dept. of Civil Engineering and Architecture.

From 2003 to 2006, he acted as Executive Secretary of the Scientific Committee of the company Strettodimessina, in charge of the studies toward the design and construction of the Messina Strait Bridge.

Fabio Casciati participated in several research projects funded by the European Union (Radatt, Chime, Wind-chime, Samco, Smartec, Spartacus, Powerramp, Geofit) and is co-editor in chief of Smart Structures and Systems. He is member of the Editorial Board of Structural Control and Health Monitoring, Computers and Structures, Earthquake Engineering and Engineering Vibration.

Prof. Jane KabuboMariara is the Executive Director of the Partnership for Economic Policy. She is also a full Professor of Economics at theUniversity of Nairobi, where she served as Director of the School Economics from 2010-2016. She has over 30 years’ experience in teaching and research and management. Her specialty research interests include the impact of climate change on agriculture and adaptation, environmental and natural resource economics among others. She has authored multiple journal papers, books, monographs, and policy briefs, as well as several peer-reviewed working papers and mimeos.

Janehas held numerous advisory roles, which have in turn made her a well-known figure in local, regional and international academic circles. Currently, she isa member of the Central Bank of Kenya’s Monetary Policy Committee; the Innovations for Poverty Action Board of Directors, the President of the African Society of Ecological Economists (ASEE),and a member of the Club of Rome’s Earth4All 21st Century Transformational Economics Commission among others.

Jane holds a PhD, an MA, and a BA in Economics from the University of Nairobi.

Xiaoguang Ouyang is a postdoctoral fellow at The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He obtained his PhD in the area of marine ecology from Griffith University, Australia. He was a visiting scientist during June 2016-March 2018 at WasserClusterLunz– Inter-university Centre for Aquatic Ecosystem Research, Austria. Xiaoguang’s research focus on coastal wetland ecology, with recent research interest in carbon cycling, ecosystem services and multi-criteion decision-making. He has published 13 papers in top-tier journals,and the first-author of 11 papers. He is the co-chair of ECSA56 conference session, and the board member of Cambridge Scholar Publishing. He has been acting as reviewers for many reputable journals, including but not limited to Biogeosciences, Biology letters and Science of the Total Environment.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Frank Ulrich Rückert studied environmental engineering and process engineering with a focus on "process and plant engineering" at the BTU Cottbus. He did his doctorate at the University of Stuttgart on technical combustion. As part of his research activities, he also carried out extensive measurements and simulation calculations at the model power plant Völklingen-Fenne or Bexbach to predict the combustion processes. He worked intensively with the HLRS (High Performance Computing Center Stuttgart) and the KIT in Karlsruhe. At Robert Bosch GmbH, he worked at various international locations and was involved in the development of different types of nozzles and valves for liquid fuels and gases. He supervised numerical simulations of hydraulics, fluid mechanics and spray propagation. In addition, he was involved in the advance development of micro steam turbines for heat recovery for four years. In addition to practice-oriented basic training in the field of thermodynamics and fluid mechanics, his focus in research and teaching is on simulation and modeling.

Filipa Bessa is a biologist (PhD in Biosciences) and researcher at MARE – Marine and Environmental Research Centre from the University of Coimbra (Portugal). Her research focus is related to the assessment of the effects of urbanization and (micro)plastic pollution on marine and coastal ecosystems. In this regard, she published around 31 scientific articles in this thematic, and during her professional activities interacted with more than 237 collaborator(s) co-authorship of scientific papers. The University of Coimbra considered Filipa Bessa in 2022 for a Special Recognition of the World Cultural Council for her commitment to studying the effects of plastic pollution on coastal ecosystems and the development of novel methods for the quantification of (micro)plastics. Particularly, for her pioneer contributions in the identification of microplastic pollution in penguins in Antarctica, with the publication Microplastics in gentoo penguins from the Antarctic region listed in the Top 100 Scientific Reports Earth Science papers in 2019. In addition, she participated in the first regional assessment of plastic pollution in European rivers published in Nature Sustainability, in 2020; and is the Portuguese member of the International Working Group “Micro and Nano Plastics” in support of the European Commission Scientific Advice Mechanism (SAM). She coordinates national projects aiming to develop innovative tools for the detection and mitigation of marine litter (UAS4litter), and promote citizen participation and engagement with environmental issues via digital tools (www-lixomarinho.app). Currently, Filipa Bessa is involved in several national and international research projects not only related to Marine and Coastal Science but also citizen science and outreach. In fact, the researcher is remarkably engaged in promoting science communication activities with more than two hundred outreach activities and science communication initiatives (exhibitions, seminars and workshops) related to ocean literacy and plastic pollution. Furthermore, she won the “Clean Seas Photo Challenge” with the Category "Macro – “SeaPlasticSalt” awarded by the United Nations Environment Programme in 2018 and, more recently, a science and art prize from JPIOceans with the piece entitled “New Shades of Blue”. Filipa Bessa is an active voice in ensuring more women and girls participate in STEM disciplines, shown by her participation as Portuguese women scientist in the last 7th International Day of Women and Girls in Science Assembly by the United Nations. The vision and research contributions of Filipa Bessa are directly aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, in particular, related with the Goal 14 - Protect marine life – in their goals for reducing pollution and protect coastal and marine ecosystems and the SDG 17 by promoting dialogues with public and private partnerships with the civil society.

Dr. Luís Paulo Mourão dos Santos graduated with a B.Sc. in Chemistry from the State University of Ceará in 2011. He furthered his academic journey with an M.Sc. in Materials Science and Engineering from the Federal University of Ceará in 2014 and obtained his Ph.D. in Chemistry (electrochemistry) from the same institution in 2019. Dr. Santos specializes in the synthesis and advanced characterization of nanomaterials, and he boasts extensive experience in the study of hydrogen embrittlement in high-strength steels.

Currently, Dr. Santos holds the position of visiting professor at the Federal University of Ceará, where, he is actively engaged in research and development focused on (photo)electrocatalytic materials based on transition metal oxides for applications in hydrogen evolution and oxygen evolution reactions. In addition, his research interests encompass the investigation of hydrogen storage materials, with a particular focus on magnesium-based materials and highentropy alloys.

Cristina Calheiros is Environmental Engineer with a PhD in Biotechnology. Currently is scientific researcher at CIIMAR - Interdisciplinary Centre of Marine and Environmental Research of the University of Porto, Portugal, Coordinator of the Centre for Monitoring and Environmental Interpretation (CMIA), Vila do Conde, Portugal, Adjunct Professor at University of Saint Joseph, SAR Macao, China and invited professor at University of Porto. She is European Climate Pact Ambassador, board member of The Portuguese Association for Water Resources – north region (APRH) and Vice-president of The Portuguese National Association of Green Roof (ANCV). Her work focuses on the development of nature-based solutions towards sustainability of territories and as tools for climate change adaptation and mitigation, water management and treatment solutions, phytoremediation and environmental education.

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dirk Herbert Hübner is Professor of Design Engineering and Lightweight Construction at Saarbrücken University of Applied Sciences (Saarland, Germany) since 2012. He is also a professorial member of the Competence Center for Fluid Machinery, Simulation and Measurement and is primarily involved in the development of alternative energy storage technologies and the optimisation of hydropower turbines (power bouy) in the area of research and development. He has been active in research and development for over 25 years, initially in the field of optimising fuel systems of natural gas powered Otto engines and related to this in the field of high-pressure gas technology. He is co-author of the book "Digital Twin Development - An Introduction to Simcenter Amesim" and is additionally author of numerous articles and technical papers.

Dirk holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture at the University of Rostock (Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany) and a Dipl.-Ing. (FH) in General Mechanical Engineering from the Trier University of Applied Sciences (Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany). He also has a pedagogical qualification as a specialist teacher at vocational schools in Rhineland-Palatinate and vocational training as an aircraft mechanic specializing in maintenance engineering.

M.Sc. Sebastian Armin Grün works at the Saarbrücken University of Applied Sciences (Saarland, Germany). He graduated as an industrial engineer from the htw saar in 2022 after completing an apprenticeship as an electronics technician. He works in the Competence Center for Fluid Machinery, Simulation and Measurement on various projects, including the optimization of a compressor as a charging unit for a compressed air energy storage system, or finding the ideal location for power buoys in rivers with the help of AI.
