Prof. Suksun Horpibulsuk obtained a B.Eng. (Civil Engineering) with Honors Award from Khon Kaen University, Thailand in 1996. Prof. Suksun was subsequently granted a scholarship by the Royal Thailand Government to pursue a M.Eng. in Soil Engineering at Asian Institute of Technology and duly completed in 1998. He then received a prestigious MONBUSHO scholarship from the Japanese Government to pursue his Ph.D. in Geotechnical Engineering at Saga University in Japan that he duly completed in 2001. Prof. Suksun joined Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) as a lecturer in 2002. His outstanding research, teaching and service for the university, community and profession over the years was duly recognized when he was promoted to the level of full professor in 2010. He is an associate fellow of The Royal Society of Thailand, as well as a professor of School of Civil Engineering and a founder director of Center of Excellence in Innovation for Sustainable Infrastructure Development at SUT. He is also an Academic Senate member of SUT and Rajamangala University of Technology Isan. He is presently the president of the International Geosynthetics Society (IGS) – Thailand Chapter, an adjunct professor at Swinburne University of Technology, Australia and a visiting professor at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Malaysia. He also serves as an editor and reviewer for several prestigious national and international journals. His most significant contributions have been in the field of ground improvement techniques and pavement engineering, specifically issues associated with compaction, earth reinforcement, chemical stabilization and sustainable rigid and flexural pavements. He has been awarded a large number of competitive research grants totalling US$10 million. He has published extensively with over 500 technical publications, including over 350 in leading journals. He has a H-index of 67 (Scopus), 12000+ citations and currently averages 1890 (Scopus) citations per annum. He is a senior professional engineer accredited by Council of Engineers, Thailand and science and technology professional in engineering geology accredited by Council of Science and Technology Professionals, Thailand. He has received Telford Premium Prize from Institution of Civil Engineers, London, UK in 2023. Due to his outstanding contributions for the profession and community as well as his national and international recognition, he was nominated as a TRF Senior Scholar in 2013 and 2016 by the Thailand Research Fund. He received an Outstanding National Researcher award in 2019 from National Research Council of Thailand and a Chair Professor award in 2020 from National Science and Technology Development Agency.

Philip W. T. Pong received a B.Eng. from the University of Hong Kong (HKU) in 2002 with 1st class honours. Then he obtained a PhD in engineering at the University of Cambridge in 2005. He was a postdoctoral researcher at the Magnetic Materials Group at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) for three years. Currently he is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT). His research interest focuses on the fault detection, predictive maintenance, and anomaly detection of power grid. He is the Founding Director of the Green Technology Research and Training Laboratory, leading the research and education activities of offshore wind energy at NJIT. Dr. Zachariah Mbugua is a lecturer and senior researcher in Applied Mathematics specializing in Fluid Dynamics and Numerical Methods. At the moment, he is a lecturer at the University of Embu in Kenya. He holds a B.Sc. in Mathematics and Computer Science from Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology (JKUAT) Kenya, an M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics in 2016 from JKUAT, and a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics in 2021 from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. Dr Elsa M. Gonçalves received a “Licenciatura” (5 years BEng degree) in Food Engineering in 1991 from the College of Biotechnology, Catholic University of Portugal. She obtained her PhD degree in 2011 in Biotechnology with a specialisation in Science and Food Engineering at the same University. From 1992 to 2013, Dr Elsa M. Gonçalves worked as a Researcher at the Department “Ciencias e Tecnologia dos Alimentos” of the “Instituto Nacional de Investigação Agrária e Veterinária”. Areas of research interest included innovative and traditional preservation techniques, enhancing nutritional contents of foods, packaging and shelf life estimation, modelling of physic & biochemical proprieties, quality systems, risk assessment, food safety and quality. Alexander Aguila Téllez. - In 2005, he graduated as an Electrical Engineer from the University of Camagüey - Cuba. In 2010 he received his master's degree in Energy Efficiency, awarded by the University of Ciego de Ávila, Cuba. In 2019 he received his second master's degree in Engineering, awarded by the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, Medellín – Colombia, where he has also collaborated as a researcher in several scientific projects. He received his Ph.D. degree in Engineering at the aforementioned university in Colombia in 2021. Professor Razin is a world-leading scientist in the field of mast cell biology. His first major contribution was over 30 years ago, when he developed a cultured mouse bone marrow-derived mast cell model. This system changed mast cell research and is still one of the main tools for studying mast cell function. Around 10 years ago, his group presented a key advancement in the field when they reported a previously unknown signaling pathway directly involved in gene regulation. The main focus of the present proposal is further exploration of this pathway, which involves the ubiquitously expressed Hint1, a repressor of both USF2 and MITF transcriptional activity via its tight association to these proteins. The interaction between USF2 or MITF and Hint1 is reduced upon physiological stimulation in several cell types, as a result of the synthesis of Ap4A, acting as a 2nd messenger as described by Prof. Razin’s team. He also demonstrated that following physiological stimulation in these cell types, 207 serine phosphorylated lysyl tRNA synthetase (LysRS) associates with either of these transcription factors and forms a multi-complex with Hint. This Erk-mediated phosphorylation is followed by a dramatic conformational change of the LysRS protein through the opening of its domain-domain interface. This enables it to not only be released from the multi-synthetase cytosolic complex, but also switches its function from catalysis of the formation of lysyl-tRNAs to the synthesis of Ap4A. This 2nd messenger binds specifically to Hint1, changes its confirmation and causes its dissociation from the transcription factors, which are now able to activate their target genes. In close proximity to these protein complexes of LysRS-transcription factors-Hint1, the enzyme Ap4A hydrolase catalyzes the excess intracellular Ap4A. One of these publications describes his research performed in collaboration with a team from The Scripps Institute, Florida, which used a structural biology approach to confirm their earlier results. Recent papers of his own and others have served to demonstrate the importance of this pathway in diseases such as non-small cell carcinoma and melanoma and in HIV-1 infection. Professor Razin now felt that it was time to expand this research to in vivo systems, which led to his pioneering work on MITF in cardiac hypertrophy. Cardiovascular disease remains the number one cause of death in the Western world, with heart failure representing the fastest-growing subclass over the past decade. The stage that often precedes heart is pathological hypertrophy - the growth of the heart muscle in an attempt to increase its output. Not all hypertrophy is pathological; for example, during pregnancy or high physical exertion the muscle of the heart grows but myocardial function remains normal. However, when hypertrophy is excessive, prolonged and unbalanced, it becomes pathological, leading to heart failure and arrhythmias. Now for the first time, Prof. Razin’s team in collaboration with Prof Roger Foo from Singapore have revealed how a protein called Erbin acts as a brake against this excessive and pathological growth of heart muscle. They also demonstrated that damage to this protein leads to a decrease in function and severe pathological growth of heart muscle. His findings also revealed a link between Erbin and the Hint1-MITF-LysRS-Ap4A pathway since Erbin expression is regulated by MITF in mice and human hearts. Prof Razin’s work has contributed significantly to understanding the role of PIAS3, the main cellular inhibitor of STAT3, in activated mast cells. MITF and STAT3 are key players in the regulation of mast cell growth and function. Prof. Razin’s team has elucidated the role of PIAS3 in the regulation of transcriptional activity and the molecular mechanism involved. Based almost solely on Prof. Razin’s research, five Norwegian mathematicians presented a model describing the MITF-PIAS3-STAT3 signaling network, and concluded that this crosstalk between MITF and STAT3 via PIAS3 as described by Prof. Razin’s team offers a unique mechanistic explanation for MITF-PIAS3-STAT3 signaling in melanoma. Recently his team explored the potential involvement of STAT3 in mitochondrial ATP production and in exocytosis of immunologically activated mast cells and the involvement of MITF and pyruvate dehydrogenase in this process. These results are of great importance since they provide the first direct evidence for an additional physiological function of STAT3 as a key regulator of mast cell exocytosis. Over the years, Prof Razin has published his research in top peer-reviewed journals such as Immunity, The Journal of Clinical Investigation, Molecular Cell Biology, Molecular Cell, The Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and The Proceedings of the National Academy of Science. His research is supported by top competitive grants available to Israeli scientists. He has supervised many graduate students some of whom are now faculty members in academic institutions in Israel.

Marco S. Lucas is Assistant Researcher and Deputy Head of the Chemistry Department at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro (UTAD). Holds a PhD in Chemistry, a Master in Environmental Technology and a Degree in Environmental Engineering and Natural Resources. His main research interests are i) water and wastewater treatment, ii) advanced oxidation processes, iii) water disinfection, iv) environmental chemistry, v) biosorption, vi) biologic processes, vii) process intensification and viii) water-energy production. To date has published 60 papers in top-ranked peer-reviewed journals, 1 patent, 5 book chapters and more than 150 conference proceedings and communications. He has been awarded with a Marie Curie Individual Fellowship (2015, European Commission) and several prizes: i) Prize Dr. Francisco da Fonseca Henriques - awarded by the Administração da RegiãoHidrográfica do Norte, Portugal; ii) Prize APRH 2010/11, awarded by the Associação Portuguesa dos RecursosHídricos, Portugal and iii) Prize Young Researcher 2013 - UTAD.

David G. Santos: PhD in Philosophy since 2013, he has been teaching at the University of Beira Interior for 14 years. He is mainly interested in Philosophy of Biology, Ethics, Meta-Ethics and Biopolitics. With more than 20 lectures given from Oxford to Toronto, passing through Madrid and, of course, Lisbon, he is frequently invited to give lectures on the Philosophy of Biology.

In addition, I´ve proposed the development of lab-made electrochemical sensors devices for olive matrices evaluation.I am currently a PostdoctoralResearcher of PreVineGrape POCI-01-0247-FEDER-049695 project (Development of a biogingicide against grape diseases).During my career I´ve been acquiring important skills in the field of food science and technology by exploiting natural matrices.My research targets are the identification, separation, and recovery of functional molecules, as well as their implementation as ingredients and bioactive in food, with an ultimate goal to extract high added-value molecules and reuse them in the food chain (from agriculture to the consumer).Being amember of Mountain Research Centre (CIMO), together with my research team, I´ve been exploiting the agrifood sector, mainly in the valorization of bio wastes, optimizing and implementing greener processes, and optimizing ideal conditions of stability for industry application.

Rui Manuel da Costa Soares completed the Integrated Master's Degree in Medicine on 2013/07/12 at the University of Coimbra. He is attending a PhD in Health Sciences, in the area of ​​Microbiology, at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra, where he is also an Invited Assistant in the Curricular Units of Microbiology and Infectious Diseases. He develops research in the "Medical Microbiology" Group, which is part of the FMUC and the CNC (Center for Neuro Sciences and Cellular Biology of Coimbra). He is also an Invited Assistant at the University of Algarve. He is a Clinical Pathologist, Hospital Assistant at the Portuguese Institute of Oncology of Coimbra Francisco Gentil EPE, being responsible for the Virology Sector. He is part of the IPO's PPCIRA Local Coordinating Group and is a Consultant in Sexology in the Multidisciplinary Group of OncoSexology. During the "Covid-19" mitigation and emergency phase, he streamlined the interconnection between the IPO Coimbra and the Institute of Microbiology of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra, making it possible to research and diagnose SARS-CoV-2 in urgent patients . He is Technical Responsible for the Microbiology Laboratory of the UC Faculty of Medicine, having obtained certification by INSA, for SARS-CoV-2 diagnosis by molecular biology. Manuel José Cabral dos Santos Reis graduated in Electrical Engineering at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD), Portugal in 1991. He obtained his Master’s degree in Electronics and Telecommunications, branch of Digital Signal Processing, University of Aveiro, Portugal, in 1996. His PhD, in Electrical Engineering, was also obtained from the University of Aveiro, Portugal, in 2001. He is presently Associate Professor with Agregação in the UTAD’s Electrical Engineering Department. His research interests include the lines: signal & image processing and applications; study and development of devices & systems for friendly smart environments; development of multimedia-based teaching/learning methods and tools, with particular emphasis on the use of the Internet. He was the coordinator of the Signal Processing and Biotelemetry group, which included researchers from the Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering of Porto (INESC-TEC, pole of UTAD) and from the Institute of Electronics and Telematics Engineering of Aveiro (IEETA), where he is a research member. He also collaborates with the “IFPA-Santarém-Brasil Multidisciplinary Research Group (IFPA)” and with the “Research Center for Didactics and Technology in Teacher’s Training (CIDTFF)” at the University of Aveiro, since January 2014. He is President of the Scientific Council of ECT-UTAD, since December 2021. He has been responsible for coordinating several working groups on proposals for the creation of new undergraduate, masters and doctoral courses. He has published more than 150 scientific papers in international peer-reviewed indexed journals, conference proceedings, and book chapters, among others. He completed the supervision of 7 post-doc and PhD students, and 29 Masters students. He participated in more than 80 events worldwide. He was a research team member on 28 projects, including 16 projects where he was lead investigator. He owns 8 patent registrations and public utility models and has won 4 awards.

Mr. Suresh Aluvihara completed his postgraduate degree in the year 2023 from Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka which is well recognized university in the world. His postgraduate research disciplines were Environmental Engineering, Material Engineering, Water Treatments, Pollution Control Engineering and Chemical Engineering. He received his first degree in the year 2017 from a recognized government university in Sri Lanka under the disciplines of Earth Science and relevant scopes. According to his research and academic profile, he has done more than 75 research publications in reputed journals, international research conferences and international workshops as the full papers, conference proceedings and abstracts while obtaining a large number of citations. When considering his contribution in conference works, he participated in a large number of international research conferences under the roles of keynote speaker, invited speaker, featured speaker, guest speaker, moderator and organizing committee member in both online and in person mode. At present he is serving as a researcher in Agricultural Soil Science while joining with an Agricultural Research Institute.
