Tânia Morais is an Junior Researcher at Centro de Química Estrutural at Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa (CQE-FCUL). She obtained her Ph.D. in Chemistry with specialization Inorganic Chemistry (2013) at University of Lisbon developing ruthenium organometallic compounds for cancer therapy. In 2014 she was honored by the Portuguese Chemical Society with the prize “Portuguese Young Chemist Award”. In 2013 she start a postdoc at Instituto de Medicina Molecular, Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Lisboa and Centro de Química Estrutural, Faculdade de Ciências da Universidade de Lisboa, where she develops peptide- metal conjugates for targeted therapy. In 2015, Tânia was a visitor postdoc researcher at Barcelona Biomedical Research Park (PRBB), Barcelona, Spain under a Marie Skłodowska-Curie project, that allow her to acquire important know-how in peptide synthesis. In 2019, in a very competitive call, Tânia won a contract in the frame of CEEC Individual 2017 program and started an independent research at CQE-FCUL where she develops metal-peptide conjugates for targeted therapy. Tânia research focuses in the design, synthesis and characterization of Ru, Fe and Cu complexes with targeting molecules (e.g. peptides, carbohydrates, biomolecules) in their structure for the selective inhibition of the cancer development and metastases. She has so far 23 papers published in international peer review journals, 3 book chapters, several conference proceedings and 3 patents.

Esen Taşgın (AssociateProfessor Dr.) wasborn in Erzurum, Turkey, completed her bachelor’s (1995) at Atatürk University in theDepartment of Chemistryandalsocompleted her master (1998) andPhD (2004) from Atatürk University in science of biochemistry), Erzurum, Turkey. Sheworked as a researchassistant at Atatürk Universityfrom 1998to 2005. Dr. Taşgın has worked on thefacultystaff as an assistantprofessor at BayburtUniversity, Bayburt, during 2005–2015, Turkey. Esen Taşgın has beenworking as an associateprofessor at theFaculty of HealthSciences of Atatürk University since 2016. He is alsocurrentlyhead of theDepartment of NutritionandDietetics.Dr.Taşgın,aftercompleting his PhDthesis at AtaturkUniversity, he continuedtowork on enzymology. In his firststudies,sheworked on thebiochemicalproperties of plantessentialnutrients (wheat, spinach, etc.). Later on, sheconcentratedfoodchemistry, functionalfoods,nanobiomolecules, antioxidativecomponentsandenzymes, commoneffects of foodconsumption.He has published her work in variousinternationaljournalsandpresented his work at manyinternationalscientificconferences.
