Dr. Russel Reiter teaches in the Introduction to Research and in Journal Clubs of several departments. He is the Editor-in-Chief of Melatonin Research and on the Editorial Board of >35 other journals. He is the recipient of numerous awards including three honorary doctor of medicine degrees and the Presidential Distinguished Scholar Award from UT Health San Antonio. He is also on the Clarivate Analytics list of Highly Cited Scientists. Dr. Reiter's research interests relate to free radical aspects of disease processes and aging. Of particular interest is defining the role of oxygen derivatives in neurodegenerative diseases and their function in apoptosis, necrosis and neuronal degeneration. Professor Hong-Xi Xu has studied and worked abroad for more than 20 years. He has been actively involved in Chinese medicine research in various institutions in Japan, Singapore, Canada and Hong Kong. He has been appointed as a distinguished professor of Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine since 2011 and is currently the Dean of the School of Pharmacy. In recognition of his achievements, Professor Xu was selected as a “Specially-Appointed Professor of Shanghai”. Prof. Xu has published more than 320 SCI papers. H index is 56. His current research interest is focused on new drug discovery from natural resources, as well as the development of botanical dietary supplements from herbal medicines. Specifically, he is interested in finding natural lead compounds from medicinal plants and in developing new drug based on Chinese medicines against different disease targets such as cancer, HSV, and metabolic diseases. Shozo Yanagida is an emeritus professor of Osaka University and a research director of “Research Association for Technological Innovation of Organic Photovoltaics” (RATO) of University of Tokyo. Since he was promoted to a professor of newly established “Koza” (research course) of Graduate School of Engineering in Osaka University (1980), he had contributed to photochemical conversion of solar energy, e.g., excellent photocatalyses of both nano-sized (quantized) ZnS and poly- & oligo-paraphenylene. Dr. Tetsuji Yamada is currently a professor of Health Economics for the Department of Economics, an Associate Faculty for the Graduate Faculty of M.A. and Ph.D. programs for the Department of Childhood Studies. Professor Nelson received his PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Washington in 1998. Gábor Somlyai graduated as a biologist at József Attila University (now University of Szeged) in 1982. Between 1982 és 1990 he worked for the Department of Plant Pathology, Plant Protection Institute of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. From 1983 to 1986 he had a scholarship of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences as a postgraduate student for obtaining a Ph.D. In 1988 he defended his thesis in molecular biology. In the same year dr. Somlyai spent 6 months at the Georg-August University in Göttingen with a DFG scholarship and from the end of 1988, he held a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Missouri (Columbia, Missouri, USA), where he worked in the field of genetic engineering and gene mapping. In the wake of the Hungarian Nobel-prize winning scientist Albert Szent-Györgyi - who said that the true cause of cancer should be looked for at the sub-molecular level - dr. Somlyai began his investigations in 1990 as a senior research fellow at the Hungarian Institute of Oncology, examining the biological importance of naturally occurring deuterium.

Simon Allen obtained his PhD in Medicine in 1978. For many years he was treating patients with chronic internal diseases, including various kidney problems: nephritis, nephrosis, chronic kidney failure and kidney stones, developing diets for them. Yang Zhou is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Neurology and Neurosurgery at McGill University and a Principal Investigator of the Montreal Neurological Institute. He obtained his Ph. D from the Institute of Neuroscience, CAS in 2008. He joined the MNI in 2019 after completed his post-doctoral training and Scientist position at the McGovern Institute for Brain Research, Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Prof Quazi Monirul Islam was the Senior Specialist (Health System) at the Centre for Maternal and Newborn Health, Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine.
